FLAT PLATE 16
These plates in TANKA KURO color are created to express the modern texture of black clay by spraying it with an inky glaze. Whereas in the SNOW-colored versions, using a white glaze on the black base gives the surface a cool white appearance. These flat plates work as a blank canvas to further enhance the aesthetic of each meal.

BEFORE PURCHASING
Each of our products is meticulously crafted by hand to make the most of the natural texture of earthen materials. For this reason, please expect slight variation in the finish of each product, such as the glazing. Users can appreciate the charm of the distinctive character in the hues and textures.
*Some products have crazes and crystals. When soaked in water or hot water, they may discolor due to the properties of the glazes. This temporary change will not affect the quality of the product.
CARE AND USE INSTRUCTIONS
Before using a new plate/bowl/cup
1.
Pay attention to the roughness of the interior and exterior surface of the product. As the undersurface of the piece has already been smoothed, if you find its undersurface rough, polish the surface lightly with fine sandpaper to make it smooth. Do not drag the product on the table. Doing so may scratch the tabletop.
2.
Since earthenware is porous, some earthenware products are likely to absorb and leak water and easily stain. It is highly recommended that white slipware as well as products with cracks should be boiled in rice rinse water for about ten minutes, leave them till the hot water cools down, and wash them in water. This will help prevent staining.
DAILY CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1.
Before serving food on the plate, soak the plate in water to let it absorb moisture for at least an hour. Doing so will prevent the dish from absorbing soup, fat, and oil or getting stained. In principle, wash each dish separately. The use of a dish washer is not recommended.
2.
Do not apply direct heat or use in an oven unless the product is heat resistant. Where possible, avoid microwaving. Doing so may cause oil to stick to the product. Even for microwave-safe products, avoid the following usage: heating them in a microwave for long periods, using a high power setting, warming fat-rich dishes with liquid, or putting food into a microwave immediately after removing it from the fridge. These actions may cause cracks or fractures.
3.
Store dishes only when they are completely dry. Excess moisture may encourage the growth of mold. Take extra care when handling unglazed hard earthenware. If stacking dishes or plates, placing a sheet of thin paper between dishes will prevent surfaces scratching.
4.
Some products have crazes and crystals. When soaked in water or hot water, they may discolor due to the properties of the glazes. This temporary change will not affect the quality of the product.
